I have been a very reluctant leader in this project. Artist Mosaic was conceived as a collaborative marketing project, that took off and is constantly challenged to innovate!- It Took me away from Designing. however consistency and creativity.

- 2003 Planned and hosted First meeting of the Black Fashion Designers Association

- Produced VBAS Brooklyn first fashion designer trade show- produced for Macy's Sponsored bBack Church Means Business Event

Why this project?
- Early on Designers such As Myrjan and Bweela Steptoe, and William Fleet and brooklyn fashion and industry insiders such as Calabar Imports have discussed the need for a marketing solution for Brooklyn. We have tried working with promoters and other parties, but have found a lack of understanding as to what is unique about Brooklyn Style. We have had success with methods we have tried and work closely with designers to modify anf create a program that sells for them!
Why Fashion?
- As a designer I had a strong sense of which the core issues were, We have used fashion as a draw for business networking event. The concepts howevr work with creative all entrepreneurs.
- Brooklyn designers are an exceptionally creative force, that necessitated a unique show and sales platforms
- Brooklyn is the Capital of Global design and style
Why Open Source Software
Our target group has limited access to funding our program has been selffunded. the concept was to create solutions with the most minmal of resources. We were fortunate to have community member volunteer, collaboration help create new opportunities and maximized resources. We used our creativity to generate working solution. in the end designers who have worked steadily with us have seen results!
Isn't There another Brooklyn Fashion Week
No, there is a charity organization (BK Style Foundation) that put on a fashion showcase dubbed. One of the organizers has known of our plans for a fashion week since. 2005. We secured the name in 2005 before discussing it with any parties outside the design field; We set up a schedule with a tentative launch date of 007. an d stuck to our plans. Brooklyn has over 300 fashion designers. A fashion week is a period when industry professional deem it best to period their lines. their is no Brooklyn fashion organization and no consensus as to when a Fashion week is best. We secured the url with the hope that someday Brooklyn Designers would have an online space to promote a fashion week. Prelude signifies the testing of a new format based on studies , interaction and interview with designers. We hope that a True Brooklyn Fashion week Schedule as well as a governing body of designers soon would place There are other Brooklyn organizations that present fashion. It is our Hope that they will all come together under some collective format.
